What is #SaferToBeMe?

On the 22nd June 2023 we will be hosting a global symposium at Hope Street Exchange in Sunderland, U.K., bringing together people from all over the world to discuss what is happening to the human rights, and development needs, of LGBTQI+ people. Why is #SaferToBeMe needed? Find out more, here.

Our Launch:
The Amsterdam Rainbow Dress 

On the 20th June 2023 at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland, we are delighted to be hosting the iconic Amsterdam Rainbow Dress, alongside a welcome drinks reception! Find out more about the dress, and our launch event, here.

Before: Online Satellite Events

Before our main day symposium over a range of dates, we will be hosting a number of one hour-long online satellite events, where you can sit back and listen to activists and campaigners from around the globe, discussing LGBTQI+ human rights and development issues. The Main Day: Symposium

This is the main day on the 22nd June! Hosted at the beautiful Hope Street Exchange building in Sunderland, U.K. We have a full day of face to face talks, workshops, and campaigns for you to come along and learn more about LGBTQI+ human rights and development needs. The Main Day: 
Exhibitions and Campaigns

On the main day on the 22nd June, there will be interactive campaigns, from using an aerial drone to capture Symposium attendees spelling out #SaferToBeMe, to imagining a world without prejudice and discrimination. We are very excited to exhibit the global award-winning Flag in the Map exhibition of Pride flags from around the world! This was a partnership between ReportOUT and the Gilbert Baker Foundation.

The Evening: Film and Panel

On the evening of the symposium on the 22nd June, we invite you all to come and watch the powerful and award winning film, 'Flee.' We will be hosting a panel discussion to discuss issues faced by the human rights of LGBTQI+ refugees and people seeking asylum, with a panel talk. Read more about this here.
